Please join us for the store’s re-opening on Saturday, September 17, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. We’ll have treats (eatable, drinkable, readable) on hand to welcome you back to the shelves and shelves and shelves of poetry you’ve grown accustomed to.
I’m also excited to announce a new in-store exhibit by the poet and visual artist Gabrielle Bates. Gabrielle’s work is forthcoming in Poetry magazine, but you can see the originals (and buy them!) here first throughout the fall.
In addition, please mark your calendars for Thursday, September 22, at 7 p.m., as we celebrate a collection of Poetry Ambassadors from around the city and state: Tod Marshall and Kathleen Flenniken, present and past State Poet Laureates; Angel Gardner and Leija Farr, present and past Seattle Youth Poet Laureates; and Claudia Castro Luna, Seattle’s Civic Poet. More details about the store’s revitalized calendar of events will be coming soon.
There’s more to say and do between now and Saturday, but I wanted to be sure to let you know about these upcoming events. And to say, Hello, I’m Billie! I’m the new owner of Open Books. I can’t wait to meet you!
