January 1st and Counting

Since 1988 (beginning with the original incarnation of Open Books), the first week of the new year has meant inventory for us. This year was no different — nor were the tools we used to count every book on our shelves. It’s a two-person operation, with one standing at the bookcase calling out prices and the other seated and ticking them down (and trying not to drift off). This is also a time for us to find mis-shelved titles (That’s where that went!) and to shake things up a bit in the stacks. Next time you come our way, you’ll find more used and sale books along side the many new arrivals. These cold, dark days are perfect for a browse, no?
