Join us in welcoming poet Mark Tardi (all the way from Poland!) and new-to-Seattle poet Ryo Yamaguchi to Open Books for what’s sure to be an incredible reading. Both poets will read original work and stick around after to sign copies of their books.
Mark Tardi is originally from Chicago and he earned his MFA from Brown University. His publications include the books The Circus of Trust, Airport music, and Euclid Shudders. He guest-edited an issue of the literary journal Aufgabe devoted to contemporary Polish poetry and poetics and has translated poetry from the Polish by Kacper Bartczak, Miron Białoszewski, Monika Mosiewicz, and Przemysław Owczarek. A former Fulbright scholar, he lives with his wife and two dogs in a village in central Poland and is on faculty at the University of Lodz.
Ryo Yamaguchi is the author of The Refusal of Suitors (Noemi Press). His poems have appeared in outlets such as Denver Quarterly, The Iowa Review, and Gulf Coast, among others, and his book reviews and other critical writings can be found regularly at places such as Michigan Quarterly Review and Newpages. He lives in Seattle where he works at Wave Books. Please visit him at plotsandoaths.com.
