From Haiku to Collage: A Body-Based Poetics, presented by Judy Halebsky at the Hugo House

February 28, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Next up in the Bagley Wright Lecture Series is writer Judy Halebsky discussing the roll haiku plays in her poetic practice. Canadian-born Ms. Halebsky has for years studied Japanese language and, even having travelled to Japan to do so, butoh dance—an art form which, she writes, “seeks to reject social time and the separation between the worlds of the living and the dead.” Her approach to poetry is largely informed by the gaps found between languages. This event takes place at the Hugo House, where Open Books will be offering copies of her books, Sky=EmptySpace/Gap/Interval/Distance; and Tree Line, for purchase before and after the lecture.
