Join Common Acre and Open Books for an evening of poetry and discussion about what environmentalism looks like and how it intersects with other injustices faced today. The event organizer and host is Seattle Youth Poet Laureate Lily Baumgart. Readers include Aisha Al-Amin, Quenton Baker, Namaka Auwee-Dekker, and Sierra Nelson.
After hearing the words of these incredible writers, the evening will open up into a discussion ranging from what actions everyone can take to personal experiences to a cool plant you saw last week or even just how you’re doing. By building our community, we are able to better understand our position in relation to one another and the issues we try to combat; this event will be a space to strengthen our positions, our community relationships, and to gather knowledge.
