THOMAS ASLIN
Thomas Aslin joins us for the celebratory inaugural reading from his first full-length collection of poetry, A Moon Over Wings ($16 Clark City). Memory and loss infuse this work. Aslin’s approach to the grief that eventually follows from the love of family is gracefully measured. In an elegy for his father he writes, "the living room / shadows lost their edge and were borne / away. I may never see light / or shadow the same." A great respect for the formal traditions of poetry shines through this collection, including Aslin’s use of such difficult to master forms as the villanelle and the sestina. This book offers the richly personal and emotional work of a craftsman.
