SUSAN RICH
Susan Rich has worked as a Peace Corps volunteer, human rights trainer, electoral supervisor, and Amnesty International staff member. Now teaching at Highline Community College near Seattle, she joins us to read from her second collection, Cures Include Travel ($14 White Pine Press). Ms. Rich's travels have taken her to some of the world's troubled locations -- Bosnia, Gaza, South Africa, Somalia -- and those experiences inform and resonate throughout her thoughtful poems. Though the focus of her poetry is often "our rich and grieving world," a personal, even intimate, tone fills the book. Indeed, she is equally conscious of the challenging and nourishing domestic territories of family, lovers, home. The attention and concern that shape her work are offered regardless of borders.
