The drama of her poems is intimate, offering generous and humane glimpses of life with all the sharp edges intact. Ms. Woodard, who teaches at the Richard Hugo House, has published two well-received books with Bear Star--_The Orphan Conducts the Dovehouse Orchestra_ and the just re-released (and charming) _Book of Riddles_. She is co-translator of _Hospital Series_, a volume of poetry by the Italian writer Amelia Rosselli.
